How can I get surround sound on auxiliary source for Magnavox home theater system?

Ok, so you have this home theater system and not I find out how to get my xbox 360 to get surround sound on it. I covered my 360 in the VCR jacks in the system, but only played in 2 channels. The model number is MRD510 So I really do not know if anyone else has this surround sound system or not. So it's probably a piece of crap I have to back to the goal of malcontents. But any help would be appreciated. I also became a test tone for each speaker just does not make six aux channel so if there is something I did wrong (besides buying the damn thing), then I would appreciate any help fixing it. Well if your home theater system has an optical connector in the back, all you do is get a digital optical to connect to your Xbox 360 for the system. But I think it will work in a AUX source. I tried to look up the model number and came up with nothing. This is a 6.1, 7.1 receiver? Sometimes the older ones can not contain a 5.1 Dolby Digital sound. How long have you had this system?
